2023-2024

2023-2024: Developing the For Youth, By Youth (FYBY) Movement

  • In collaboration with NGLs, paNhari leads efforts to develop the For Youth, By Youth (FYBY) Movement, a youth-led initiative focused on empowering young people to design and implement solutions for challenges affecting their communities.
  • The FYBY movement emphasizes peer mentorship, community engagement, and ethical leadership, with paNhari providing strategic guidance and support to ensure the success of the initiative.
  • Through FYBY, paNhari helps youth leaders harness their potential to effect change, with a focus on wellness, identity, inclusivity, and innovation in areas like ethical AI and climate action.

2020: Global Recognition and Launch of NGL Coaching

  • paNhari is awarded Second Place in the MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship, recognizing its civic engagement efforts and impact on empowering youth through social entrepreneurship.
  • The organization begins providing coaching and mentoring to Next Generation Leaders (NGL), supporting young leaders in honing their leadership skills and advancing civic engagement efforts in their communities.
  • Through this program, paNhari plays a pivotal role in preparing NGLs to tackle social, economic, and environmental challenges, helping them grow into future leaders capable of driving global change.

2016-2019

2016-2019: Growth and Continued Collaboration

  • As paNhari’s reputation grows, it collaborates with global organizations to foster innovation and capacity-building among youth in Zimbabwe and beyond.
  • The program builds partnerships with higher learning institutions across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, advancing its mission of empowering youth through civic engagement and social innovation.

2015: Expanding Civic Engagement

  • paNhari becomes embedded in the University of Zimbabwe’s Life Skills Center, working under the Students Affairs Department to support the university’s broader mission of civic engagement.
  • Despite Zimbabwe’s political and economic instability, paNhari perseveres in offering students opportunities to engage in social entrepreneurship and community development projects.
  • The program nurtures future leaders, encouraging students to discover their leadership potential, participate in civic responsibilities, and contribute positively to their communities.

2013

2013: Formal Registration and Partnership with the Talloires Network

  • paNhari becomes a standalone initiative, officially registered to focus on empowering youth, especially university students, through civic engagement and social entrepreneurship.
  • paNhari partners with the Talloires Network of Engaged Universities to implement the Mastercard Foundation-funded Youth Economic Participation Initiative (YEPI) from 2013 to 2018.
  • YEPI aimed to empower young people by fostering entrepreneurship and economic participation. The program focused on supporting youth in acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to develop their own businesses, addressing unemployment and enhancing economic opportunities for university students and recent graduates. Through the partnership with YEPI, paNhari provided training, mentorship, and access to resources for young entrepreneurs, creating lasting economic change in their communities.

2005: The Begining

  • paNhari is established as a student-led project under the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) global program (now ENACTUS).
  • The initiative aims to engage young, entrepreneurial leaders in using innovation and business principles to improve the world by addressing critical community challenges.
  • paNhari was housed within the University of Zimbabwe’s Life Skills Center under the Student Affairs Department, which was designed to complement academic programs by helping students achieve their full potential in various dimensions: physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and psychological.
